(HAMPTON, VA) Twenty student-athletes from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association have been named to the 12th annual CIAA Commissioner’s All-Academic Team.  Of those twenty, four Bowie State University student-athletes (Kelley Alexander (Damascus, Md., Covenant Life, Montgomery College), Tiffany Toney (Abilene, TX, Abilene Cooper, The University of Oklahoma )Itumeleng Shadreck (Bostwana Africa, East Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central) and Daryl Sanders (Upper Marlboro, MD, DeMatha) were honorees.

COMPLETE RESULTS

(SAN ANGELO, Texas)  Bowie State representatives, sophomore Elaine Rhoades (Norfolk, VA, Booker T. Washington) and junior Aaron Johnson (Temple Hills, MD, Oxon Hill) returned home with sixth place finishes at the 2009 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Abilene Christian University.

(DURHAM, N.C.)  Bowie State University received five awards at the CIAA end of the year Spring Meeting.  BSU was awarded the  Loretta Taylor All Sports Team Trophy, Tiffany Toney (Abilene, TX, Abilene Cooper, The University of Oklahoma ) was selected as the Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, former Athletic Director Derek Carter was selected as the Jeanette A. Lee Administrator of the Year, Michelle Latimer was chosen as the Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year and Gregory Goings was tabbed as the Sports Information Director of the Year.

(LOCK HAVEN, Pa.)  Bowie State (26-7) drops into the loser’s bracket of the NCAA Atlantic Softball Region after being shutout 8-0 to top seeded and host Lock Haven University (42-5).  The BSU Lady Bulldogs will play Shippensburg (Pa.) tomorrow (5/9) at 12:30 p.m.

  Bowie State University, Champions of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and Lock Haven University, Champions of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) will get the 2009 NCAA Atlantic Region Softball Championships underway at 11 a.m. - Friday, May 8th at Lawrence Field on the Lock Haven campus.

(BOWIE, Md) The Bowie State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics concluded its 2008 - 2009 athletic year this evening with its 9th Annual Awards Banquet at Florian Hall. Athletic as well as academic awards were presented to members of each of Bowie State’s athletic teams.
