BULLDOGS TRACK & FIELD PLACE 4TH AT VIRGINIA STATE EASTERN DIVISION MEET

COMPLETE INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

(PETERSBURG, Va.)  Bowie State University participated in their final outdoor track & field event before next weeks CIAA Championships and placed fourth overall.  Virginia Union University placed first on the men's side with 145 points followed by Lincoln University of Pennsylvania (140.5 points) in second, Virginia State University was third (127.5 points) and BSU with 94 points.  Saint Paul's College came in fifth with a score of 12 points and Elizabeth City State University rounded out the six team field with 4 points.

First place finishers for Bowie State include David Rustin (Laurel, MD, Laural) in 400 Meter Dash (50.24), Jamin Gallman (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore Polytechnic) in the 800 Meter Run (2:03.64) and Joel Lavella (Hyattsville, MD, Demascus) in the 400 Meter Hurdles (58.85). Gallman also placed third in the 200 Meter Dash (22.53).

Other top five finishers for the Bulldogs include Daryl Sanders (Upper Marlboro, MD, DeMatha) (2nd in the 800 Meter Run - 2:03.90), Damien Montgomery (Baltimore, MD, Woodlawn) (4th in the 400 Meter Hurdles - 1:09.59), Sean Johnson (Oxon Hill, MD, Oxon Hill) (4th in the Triple Jump -13.29m), Michael Wallace (3rd in the 3000 Meter Run - 11:12.53 and 4th in the 1500 Meter Run - 4:38.20), Franklin Robinson (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore Polytechnic) (5th in the Javelin - 31.76m) and Devin Richards (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore Polytechnic) (5th in the Long Jump - 6.27).

BSU's 4x100 Meter Relay Team consisting of Santiago Ennis, Dion Rodriguez (Trinidad Tobago, El Dorado Senior Comprehensive School)Rodney Williamson (Bladensburg, Md., Bladensburg) and Darren Williams (Lanham, MD, DuVal), placed 4th, crossing the finish line with a time of 44.90. The 4x400 Meter Relay Team, made up of Jamin Gallman (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore Polytechnic), Demetrius Barkley, Walter Morton (Lanham, MD, DuVal) and Rustin, finished second in the event with a time of 3:37.42.

Bowie State's next competition is set for April 16th-18th at the CIAA Spring Championships in Petersburg (Va.) and will be hosted by Virginia State University.

(NEW ORLEANS, La – May 24, 2010) The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Monday winners of USTFCCCA Region Athletes and Coaches of the Year honors for the 2010 Outdoor Track & Field season in Division II as voted by the division’s coaches. Of those honored, Bowie State University’s William Bailey was named Atlantic Region Field Athlete of the Year.

(BALTIMORE, Md.)  The Bowie State Univesity men's track and field team placed sixth overall at the Coppin State University Eagle Twilight event with a score of 36 points.  Top finishers for the Bulldogs include first place finishes by William Bailey and Collen Cumberbatch and third and fourth place finishes by Alonzo Williams and the 4x100 Meter Relay team.

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.)  There were several individual highlights worth mentioning in Bowie State University's final outdoor meet before the conference championships.  The Lady Bulldogs were led by John'Ne Allen Davis and Lakesha Carney (Hampton, VA, Denbigh) while William Bailey, Jamin Gallman (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore Polytechnic) and Collen Cumberbatch paced the Bulldogs.
