(RALEIGH, N.C.) The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association closed its 2009-10 school year on Tuesday by honoring this year's CIAA Coaches and Administrators of the Year at its annual awards program held at the Marriott Crabtree.
This event is held in conjunction with the CIAA's Spring General Assembly Meeting. Among the individuals honored, Bowie State's
Michelle Latimer and
Darrell Toney were formally awarded their Coach of the year plaques. Latimer was selected as Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year and Toney was selected Softball Coach of the Year.
Bowie State University was awarded the Loretta Taylor All Sports Team Trophy and Saint Augustine's College took home the C.W. Williams Trophy. The Loretta Taylor Trophy is Indicative of excellence in women's championships and is determined by a point system for achievement in all of the institution's women's programs.
Livingstone's Winnie Chepchumba and St. Augustine's Orolando Duffus were recognized as Scholar-Athletes of the Year.
