BOX SCORE

(BOWIE, Md.)  Saint Paul's (13-12, 10-7 CIAA and 5-2 East) used an 11-point cushion and held on down the stretch to defeat Bowie State 57-54.  Junior Bianca Lee (Temple Hills, MD, Archbishop Carroll) paced Bowie State with 21 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals and sophomore Lakisha Walker (Baltimore, MD, St. Frances Academy) came off the BSU bench to add 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds.  The loss snaps the Lady Bulldogs seven-game winning streak and gives Bowie State a 5-2 record in the CIAA Eastern Division, 13-4 conference record and 15-10 overall.

The Lady Tigers took the early lead in the game scoring on 12-of-30 field goals from the field. With Tatiana Ellis leading the way with 11-points, the Lady Tigers go in at halftime on top, 31-20. Bowie State shot 33-percent from the field in the first half, connecting on eight-of-24 shots from the field. Lee led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 11 first half points of her own.

The Lady Tigers held the lead for most of the second half, but Bowie fought hard in the last minutes to push the tempo and close the margin.  A Walker lay-up gave Bowie State their second and final lead of the game (47-46) with 6:53.  However, Ellis answered with back-to-back 3-point buckets to push the Saint Paul's lead to 54-49, killing the Bowie State rally.

Tatiana Ellis led all scorers in the game with 23-points on 9-of-19 field goals made. Ellis added four rebounds and one assist on the afternoon. Gabrielle Johnson worked equally as hard, netting 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs have a Tuesday, February 17th date at Elizabeth City State University.  ECSU's Lady Vikings stunned Virginia State 63-58 on VSU's home court.
