REDMAN SETS RECORD IN BSU's 44-6 WIN OVER LIVINGSTONE

FINAL GAME STATS

(BOWIE, MARYLAND) Isaac Redman rushed for a school record 218 yards powering Bowie State University to 44-6 victory over Livingstone College. The old record (213 yards) was set last season by former Bulldog Nathaniel Queen. Bowie State is now even at 3-3 and 3-0 in the CIAA. Livingstone remains winless at 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the CIAA.

The first half was pretty much all Redman as he carried the ball 19 times for 195 yards and scored three touchdowns. Bowie State recorded their first points of the afternoon at the 5:19 mark of quarter one on a 4-yard run by Redman. Redman rumbled 55 yards for his second touchdown with 11:21 left in the second quarter. The BSU Bulldogs took a commanding 20-0 advantage into halftime following a 10 yard touchdown run by Redman with 41 seconds remaining in the first half.

The BSU Bulldogs held Livingstone to 18 first half yards while Bowie State rolled up 245 in the first 30 minutes of play. Of Livingstone's first half yardage total, the Blue Bears were a minus five yards rushing compared to 209 first half yards for the Bulldogs.

Bowie State missed a scoring opportunity with just over nine minutes left in the third quarter, getting down to the Livingstone three yard line before turning the ball over on downs. However, Livingstone helped the Bulldogs out on their next possession, giving Bowie State two more points via a safety. A center snap sailed over the head of Livingstone punter William Massey and out of the end zone, making the score 22-0 after three quarters.

Freshman Rodney Webb (Baltimore, MD – Milford Mill Academy) increased Bowie State's lead to 30-0 at the 11:33 mark of the fourth quarter, scoring from two yards out. Fellow freshman Troy Gibson (Columbia, MD – Atholton HS) scored his first collegiate touchdown on a 42 yard jaunt, padding the Bowie State lead to 38-0 with 8:17 left in the game. Livingstone avoided the shutout when Jovon Bonneau hurled a 70-yard bomb to a wide-open AnThon Harris after the Blue Bears were faced with a third and 37. The extra point failed but Bowie State still held a commanding 38-6 advantage. Webb recorded his third touchdown of the season with 2:22 left in the game, rushing around the left side and into the Blue Bears end zone, accounting for the final margin. Webb ended the game with a season-high 117 rushing yards.

Bowie State racked up a 450 yards in total offense (400 rushing) and held Livingstone to just 94 total yards. Livingstone's best statistical category was passing yards with the Blue Bears managing 131 yards on the day. Livingstone's Harris was the Blue Bears top receiver with 79 yards on three receptions and a touchdown. Defensively, Bowie State totaled a season-high seven sacks with freshman Alvin Cox leading the charge with two for 15 yards. Cox also led BSU with five total tackles and teammate Kyle Jackson and Sterling Grant-Jones added another four tackles each.

The Bulldogs will travel to Virginia State next weekend (1:30 p.m.) while the Blue Bears visit Shaw (4 p.m.).
