FINAL STATS

(CHARLOTTE, NC)  The Fayetteville State University Lady Broncos swept Bowie State University in three games (30-21, 30-18 30-27) to win the 2007 CIAA Volleyball Championship Saturday evening at the Grady Cole Center.

The victory gives FSU (26-11) its third CIAA crown in school history (1996, 1998) and they will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs beginning either November 15-17th or 16-18th.

CIAA Player of the Year Chekimbrel Jefferson, who was voted the tournament's MVP, topped all scorers with 18 kills versus no hitting errors, a service ace and 3 assisted blocks. As a team, the Lady Broncos got out to a fast start in game one with 17 kills versus only one hitting error versus 12 and 6, respectively for the Lady Bulldogs.

CIAA Rookie of the Year Bethany Sloat and Tiffany Toney both were named to the All-Tournament team for Bowie State who finishes the year with a 16-14 overall record. Sloat and Tamira Conner Rogers paced the Lady Bulldogs with 9 kills each.
