(HAMPTON, VIRGINIA) The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announces the 2007 selections for All-CIAA Volleyball Team, All-CIAA Rookie Team and Players of the Year. Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs, Bethany Sloat, has been selected as the 2007 CIAA Rookie of the Year. Sloat, a Pedology major, hails from Baltimore, MD and ranks 4th in the conference in kills with 273 (3.20pg) and leads Bowie State into the championship tournament as the third seed in the Eastern Division.
Chekimbrell Jefferson of Fayetteville State University, a 6-2, Middle Hitter and sophomore Psychology major from Laurel Hill, NC is the 2007 CIAA Volleyball Player of the Year. Jefferson leads the CIAA, averaging 4.23 kills per game and tops all others with a .388 hitting percentage. Chekimbrell aided the Lady Broncos to their Western Division Title and an undefeated season against CIAA opponents.
The 2007 All-CIAA Team and All-CIAA Rookie Teams are listed below. Smith University, Charlotte, NC on Wednesday, November 7, 2006 at 11:30 am.
