(ELIZABETH CITY, NC) Brandon Fields rushed for a game-high 122 yards and Curtis Rich added 81 passing yards to lead Elizabeth City State to a 10-6 victory over Bowie State.  “This is a tough end to the season,” said BSU Head Coach Mike Lynn. “We had opportunities to win but left those opportunities on the field by not taking advantage of the situations.”

Not a whole lot can be said about the 30 minutes of play, except Bowie State's control of the game clock. The Bulldogs kept possession 20:06 while the ECSU Vikings managed only 9:54 on just 19 plays from scrimmage. Brandon Fields led Elizabeth City State's limited offense with 46 rushing yards in the first half. BSU quarterback Jason Scott and wide receiver Anthony Howe accounted for 26 first half yards each.

After a scoreless first half, Daniel Mendez of Elizabeth City State put the first points on the board courtesy of a 27-yard field goal, capping off a 15 play – 53 yard drive and put the Vikings in front 3-0 at the 7:18 mark of the third quarter.

Bowie State's Scott connected with Paul Atueyi in the left corner of the Elizabeth City State end zone for a 19 yard touchdown pass with 12:31 remaining in the fourth quarter, making the score 6-3 Bulldogs. The Vikings' Rich pounded in from one yard out with 5:42 left in the game to shift the advantage back to Elizabeth City State. ECSU's 12 play – 82 yard drive, ate up 6:49 and put the Vikings in front to stay.

Bowie State's offense was led by Scott's 90 passing yards and Atueyi's 37 reception yards. Alonzo Marshall led the Bulldogs defense with seven tackles.

Karl Wimberly and Charles McEachin paced the Elizabeth City State Vikings with eights tackles each and Shawn Dickerson along with Jeremy Carthen added another seven tackles apiece.

Elizabeth City State wraps up the regular season with a 5-5 overall record, 5-2 in the CIAA and 3-1 in the East. Bowie State closes out the year 3-7 overall, 3-4 in the CIAA and 1-3 in the East.
