LADY BULLDOGS KNOCK OFF TOP SEEDED ECSU LADY VIKINGS

FINAL STATS

(CHARLOTTE, NC)  It's tough to beat a team three times in one season and Elizabeth City State can surely testify to that.  Elizabeth City State entered the CIAA Championships as the top seed in the East and Bowie State was seeded third.  Well, when the Lady Vikings and Lady Bulldogs met this afternoon in Pool A play, Bowie State knocked off Elizabeth City State 3-1.  BSU defeated Shaw earlier in the day and ECSU took down St. Augustine's to setup the rubber match.

Elizabeth City State dominated in game one winning by a score of 30-18.  However, the very hungry Lady Bulldogs roared back to take games two through four by scores of 35-33, 30-23 and 32-30.  The win evens Bowie State's record at 13-13 and Elizabeth City State falls to 20-10 in this double elimination tournament.

The Lady Vikings were paced by Christina Hager with 14 kills and Eva Johnson was close behind with 12 kills.  Johnson also accounted for 13 digs but Cassie Noe was tops in the digs category with 19 for Elizabeth City State.

The Bowie State dynamic duo of Tamira Conner Rogers and Bethany Sloat led the Lady Bulldogs with 21 and 19 kills respectively.  Sloat has served up a team-high five aces and Conner Rogers was credited with 17 digs on the afternoon.

Bowie State advances to the Pool A Semi-Final match tomorrow afternoon at 5 p.m. at the Grady Cole Community Center against Livingstone College.
