VOLLEYBALL ADVANCES TO FIRST EVER CIAA CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

(CHARLOTTE, NC)  History was made this evening as Bowie State women's volleyball battled through a tough five game match to defeat Livingstone College 3-2 in one of two semifinal matches during the CIAA Championships.  Bowie State (15-13) advance to Saturday's championship match for the first time in school history and will face Fayetteville State for the title at 5 p.m. at the Grady Cole Center.

Bowie State won the first game 30-20 but Livingstone rebounded to capture a victory in game two by the score of 31-29.  The Livingstone Lady Blue Bears cruised to a 30-17 victory in game three to take a two game to one lead in the best of five match series.  BSU's Lady Bulldogs evened the match at two games apiece, claiming a 30-24 win in game four.  Bowie State left every thing on the floor in the decisive fifth game, squeezing out a 15-12 victory.

Tamira Conner Rogers recorded a game-high 20 kills for Bowie State's Lady Bulldogs and Bethany Sloat along with Tiffany Toney put down 15 kills apiece for the victors. 

The Livingstone trio of Davia Moss, Shannon Allen and Tia Charlow led the Lady Blue Bears with 15, 13 and 11 kills respectively.  Livingstone ends their season with a record 20-8.
