LINCOLN DROPS 73-54 DECISION TO BOWIE STATE IN HOME OPENER

(LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA) Bowie State snapped a two game losing streak and also snapped a Lincoln (Pa.) 25-game home winning steak, defeating the Lions 73-54 in non-conference action. The win moves Bowie State's record to 4-2 overall but drops Lincoln to 0-7 overall.

Both teams got off to a sluggish start but Bowie State's Joshua Johnson finally put the first two points of the game on the board at the 18:08 mark. Lincoln (Pa.) kept it close until BSU's Bulldogs took a 16-9 advantage with 12:04 left in the first half. The Lincoln (Pa.) Lions went on a 6-0 run and cut the Bulldogs lead to 16-15 with just over eight minutes remaining before halftime. Bowie State answered with a 7-0 run to push the visitors lead to 23-15 and started to slowly pull, taking a slim 32-24 lead into the locker room at the break.

The Bulldogs began the second half with a 5-0 run before Lincoln's Mike Taylor scored on a layup. Bowie State put together another run, this time 9-0 to push the Bulldogs lead to 46-26 by the 15:21 mark of the final period. Lincoln's Ladaye Johnson finally stopped the drought with a layup of his own. Lincoln would get no closer than 11 points (60-49) shooting 37.1 percent in the final 20 minutes of play. The Bulldogs closed the game with a 13-5 run to seal the victory converting 16-of-38 from the floor (42.1 percent).

Sophomore Christian Jackson scored a game-high 24 points in his first start of the season for the Bulldogs. Jackson was also responsible for four of Bowie State's six three point field goals. Seniors Jason Ingram and David Paris recorded 14 points each and fellow senior Joshua Johnson pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs. One other noticeable statistic was points off turnovers with Bowie State converting 22 Lincoln turnovers into 31 points.

Dante Blanton-Holcombe and Ladaye Johnson led the Lincoln (Pa.) Lions with 16 and 14 points respectively. The Lions' Jermaine Russell came off the bench to score 12 points and ripped down a team-high eight rebounds.

The BSU Bulldogs were return to conference play – Saturday, December 8th against the undefeated Falcons of St. Augustine's College. Game time in St. Augustine's Emery Gymnasium is 7:30 p.m.
