(BOWIE, MARYLAND) The Bowie State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics concluded its 2006 - 2007 athletic year this evening with its 7th Annual Awards Banquet at Florian Hall. Athletic as well as academic awards were presented to members of each of Bowie State's athletic teams.
The evening began with a positive and uplifting message from former Bowie State student-athlete and assistant men's basketball coach Kevin Broadus. Broadus was recently named the head men's basketball coach at Binghamton University (Vestal, NY). Prior to his current position, the Washington, DC native was an assistant men's basketball coach at Georgetown University.
Highlights of the evening included the presentation of sixty-seven student-athletes with a 3.0 or better grade point average for the 2006 Fall Semester, the 2006-2007 Female and Male Student-Athletes of the Year (Tiffany Toney and Gil Goodrich) and Department of Athletics Volunteer of the Year (Robert Batton).
