(WASHINGTON, DC) The University of the District of Columbia handed Bowie State University its second setback of the the young season, beating the Lady Bulldogs 3-1. The Lady Fireburds took games one and two form Bowie State by scores of 30-20 and 30-14. BSU's Lady Bulldogs fought off a late charge by UDC in the third game, before prevailing 30-28. However, the home team regrouped in game four, closing ot the match with a 30-22 decision.
Senior Alycia Williams-Chase and junior Jasmine McNair led BSU in attacks and set assists with 13 and 26 repsectively. Chase also tied for a game high two blocks. Junior Tamira Conner Rogers played well, contributing a team high the service aces.
UDC (2-0) was led by Ashley Jeferson and Anne Sanchez with 12 and 10 attacks respectively. Karen Trevino and Laila Benjamin each contributing eight kills to the winning effort.
Bowie State's Lady Bulldogs (0-2) will make their home debut, Thursday, September 6th against conference foe Elizabeth City State University. Match time in BSU's A.C. Jordan Arena is 4:00 p.m.
