(PETERSBURG, VA) The Bowie State volleyball team picked up a huge divisional win tonight, defeating Virginia State 30-27, 30-25, 28-30 and 31-29 in the Lady Trojans house. The win puts Bowie State's record at 8-9 overall, 6-3 in the CIAA and 3-1 in the East.
Bowie State sophomore Bethany Sloat led both teams with a match-high 28 kills and junior Tamira Conner Rogers added another 14 kills. Conner Rogers was also credited with a match-high 18 digs.
Sheena Veney and Crystal Hickman paced the VSU Lady Trojans with a team-high eight kills each. Hickman along with Reneisha Hill topped Virginia State with 12 and 10 digs respectively.
Virginia State (7-7) will now await a Thursday (9/27) date with Eastern Division leader Elizabeth City State at 6 p.m. in VSU's Daniel Gymnasium. Bowie State's Lady Bulldogs will host the Shaw Lady Bears - Friday, September 28th at 5 p.m. in BSU's A.C. Jordan Arena.
