(BOWIE, MD) The visiting Shaw University Lady Bears scored a three game sweep over Bowie State, beating the Lady Bulldogs 19-30, 24-30 and 22-30. The loss drops BSU's record to 8-10 overall and 6-4 in the CIAA.
Shaw (8-7 overall and 8-2 in the CIAA) was led by Dominique Smith with 10 kills and Kim Moore led her team with 12 digs. Shaw's Cheryl Salter also had double-digit digs, accounting for 10 and served up a game-high four aces. Bowie State's Bethany Sloat led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 kills and Tamira Conner Rogers added a game-high 13 digs. BSU's Brigitte Fabre was the only other Lady Bulldogs player in double figures, contributing 11 digs on the night.
Bowie State takes to the road for its next two matches, before returning home Wednesday, October 10th at 6 p.m. against St. Paul's College. Shaw returns to action tomorrow (9/29) afternoon at 2 p.m. at the University of the District of Columbia.
