Turnovers also hurt Bowie State with the Bulldogs committing 11 in the first 20 minutes. No matter what the Panthers threw up in the first half, it seemed to make its way through the net. Bowie State's Arthur Bowers closed the Bulldogs deficit to nine (59-48) with a break away lay-up with 11:44 remaining in the contest. LeMoyne Wiliams followed up a Blanks miss with a thunderous dunk and a Brandon Byerson floater in the paint gave Virginia Union a double digit lead again. Joshua Johnson (eight points) muscled in for a lay-up to narrow the gap to 62-54 at the 9:25 mark, but that's as close as Bowie State would get.
