LEE'S THREE LIFTS BSU LADY BULLDOGS TO 74-71 WIN OVER FAYETTEVILLE STATE

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) Bianca Lee (Temple Hills, MD, Archbishop Carroll) nailed a 3-pointer deep in the corner with .8 seconds left in the game to lift Bowie State University to a thrilling 74-71 win over Fayetteville State University.

Sophomore Teaunsha Robinson (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore Polytechnic) was pretty much unstoppable in the first half, scoring 12 of her game-high 22 points in the first 20 minutes. Bowie State hit 13-of-30 from the floor (43 percent) compared to 10-of-36 for Fayetteville State. Fayetteville State was colder then the temperature inside Capel Arena, managing just 10-of-36 (28 percent) from the field.

With the exception of making the first basket to start the contest, Fayetteville State trailed throughout the first half. Bowie pushed their advantage to 11 (32-21) with 3:42 remaining before the half. FSU continued to compete led by the charge of sophomore center Tiffany Haywood. Haywood produced seven points, 10 rebounds, and three steals in the first and by halftime the Lady Broncos were within reach, down 35-29.

Fayetteville State drew even for the first time since the opening tip at 47-47 at the 12:48 mark of the second half, going on an 8-0 run. The lead changed hands 12 times and was tied 11 times in the second half. Turnovers were plentiful for both teams as the FSU's Lady Broncos and BSU's Lady Bulldogs committed 27 each in the game. Of the turnovers, Fayetteville State was credited with 25 points off turnovers and Bowie State tallied 19 points off turnovers.

Fayetteville State's Lady Broncos controlled the glass, outrebounding Bowie State by a commanding 50-37 margin. Tiffany Haywood recorded a game-high 16 rebounds and team-high 18 points to lead Fayetteville State. Chelsea Jeter also scored in double figures for FSU, adding 13 points to the stat sheet.

Other than Robinson's production, Lee finished the game with 16 points to go along with seven rebounds and Juliette Turner (Silver Spring, MD, John F. Kennedy) came off the Bowie State bench to contribute 13 points and six rebounds.

Bowie State's Lady Bulldogs will play its first CIAA divisional game of the season – Tuesday, November 25th at St. Paul's College. BSU and the Lady Tigers will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. in SPC's Taylor-Whitehead Gymnasium.
