(BOWIE, MD) The Bloomsburg University softball team took a pair of games from Bowie State on Tuesday by scores of 21-0 and 3-1.
In the opener, the Huskies had six players get two or more hits with Jess Rosin leading the way going 3-5, while Jenna Hampton and Kayleen Sidisky each had three RBI. Bloomsburg scored eight runs in both the third and fifth innings. Ashley Lynn picked up the win with three innings of work, while Shavuan Fisher had two shutout innings.
Bowie State (4-6) managed only five hits in game one, with Erin Gray, Tiffany Toney, Tricia Corbin, Bethany Sloat and Annette Makle accounting for those. Unfortunately for Bowie State, the Lady Bulldogs hit total also equaled their errors as BSU tied their season high of five.
Game two was much closer with the Huskies winning 3-1 and getting just four hits compared with 16 in the opener. Trailing 1-0, Bloomsburg (19-2) tied the score in the fifth when Casey Massimini led off with a triple and Tara Reed followed with an RBI single. The Huskies went in front 3-1 taking advantage of two Bowie State errors in the inning. Jen Miller singled and later scored on an error, while Tiff Corliss reached on an error and came around to score.
Sloat and losing pitcher Heather Enders tallied two hits each in the nightcap to lead Bowie State. Sloat was also responsible for the Lady Bulldogs' on run of game two.
Sheelin Fisher went the first five innings to get the win with Lynn finishing up for the save.
Bowie State will attempt to get back into the win column - Thursday, March 27th when they host Lincoln (PA) University at 1 p.m.
