GAME TWO BOX SCORE

(SLIPPERY ROCK, PA)  Bowie State University softball played a neutral site non-conference doubleheader against Clarion (PA) University, edging the Golden Eagles 4-3 in Game One but suffered a disappointing 7-6 loss in Game Two.

Winning Bowie State junior pitcher Heather Enders (13-5) went 4-of-8 in the two games against Clarion, belting out three homeruns, a double and accounted for a team-high five RBI.  Enders, hit a solo shot in Game one to put BSU's Lady Bulldogs on top 1-0 in the 4th inning.

Senior Erin Gray hit a two-run homerun in the top of the 2nd inning to give Bowie State a 3-0 lead.  Enders went deep again in the top half of the 6th inning to increase BSU's lead to 4-0.

Clarion responded with three runs in the bottom of the sixth on just one hit but missed an opportunity to tie the game in the 6th inning, leaving Lauren Martino stranded at second.  Martino reached on a double, scoring two runs.

Clarion's Marissa Myers had a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning that lifted the Golden Eagles to a 7-6 win over Bowie State in Game Two.

Clarion (4-27) trailed 6-3 going to the bottom of the seventh thanks to a three-run seventh by Bowie State. But the Golden Eagles got within a run and had the bases loaded for Myers with one out, who delivered the game-winning hit.

Clarion put two in the scorebook in the bottom of the 2nd inning, but BSU's Gray recorded her second homerun of the day (ninth of the season) in the top of inning three to trim the Bowie State deficit to 2-1.  Gray paced Bowie State in the second game going 3-of-4.

Enders smacked her third four-bagger (sixth of the year) on the afternoon on the top of the 4th inning to tie the game at 2-2.  Following a ground out by Myers, Caitlin Lamison hit a solo homerun in Clarion's half of the 4th inning to shift the advantage back to the Golden Eagles.

Bowie State freshman Danielle McClay led off the top of the 5th inning with a single to right center and later scored on a single to center field by junior Tiffany Toney, tying the game at 3-3.

Unfortunately for Bowie State, Clarion was determined not to drop its second game of the double dip.  Clarion scored four runs (all unearned) in the bottom of the 7th inning to steal a win from the CIAA Champions of Bowie State.

Myers and Kara Kelosky led Clarion in Game Two, with each going 2-of-4.

The Lady Bulldogs (25-11) return to action Sunday, April 27th, traveling across town to face Columbia Union College in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
