GAME TWO BOX SCORE

(EMPORIA, VA)  Playing their first conference divisional games of the season, Bowie State University had no trouble against St. Paul's College, beating the Lady Tigers 9-0 and 13-1.  With the wins, Bowie State improves its record to 12-0 in the CIAA (2-0 East) and 16-6 overall.

Bowie State scored a run in the very first inning of game one, added another run in the second then erupted for five runs in the third inning on just three hits.  Those three hits came in the third as seniors Bethany Sloat and Erin Gray recorded doubles and junior Tiffany Toney tripled.

Senior Jillian Willey pitched a perfect game, striking out eight in the opener of the doubleheader.  St. Paul's pitcher Jalisa Parr walked 12 in the 9-0 setback.

Game two of the twin bill was decided early with BSU's Lady Bulldogs roughing up St. Paul's pitching, exploding for seven runs in the first inning and adding another four in the second.  Bowie State's 11-0 advantage was a result of six hits and four base-on-balls.  Juniors Tricia Corbin and Virginia Hockey were BSU's big hitters during those innings, cracking a triple each.

Corbin added a double in the fifth inning and winning pitcher, junior Heather Enders (7-3) helped herself by recording her third homerun of the season following Corbin's triple.  Stephanie Gray scored the lone SPC Lady Tigers run in the fourth inning after leading off with a single.  Gray stole second then scored on a single by Catlin Marshall.  As a team, Bowie State pounded out nine hits in game two.  St. Paul's managed four hits in the nightcap but committed five errors.

Bowie State returns to action - Wednesday (4/9) with a 2 p.m. showdown with Virginia State University on the Lady Trojans home field.  St. Paul's (9-14) will host Virginia Union at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
