Bowie State scored one in the top of the fourth after sophomore Breuan Garner was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring junior Virginia Hockey from third.
Amber Houp stroked a single through the right side of the Lady Bulldogs defense, scoring two more. Bowie State junior Heather Enders slapped a single to left, scoring fellow junior Tricia Corbin, but Bowie State still trailed 8-2. Nakita Allmond reached on a throwing error, scoring Houp and Lipford and tying the game at 4-4.
Bowie State scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning, all unearned. BSU's Enders began the rally, reaching on an error by the Virginia State center fielder. Virginia State pushed six across in the bottom of the fifth, all unearned on just three hits to take a 10-8 lead. Bowie State had two throwing errors in the inning resulting in five of those six runs.
