FINAL BOX SCORE
(KUTZTOWN, PA) No. 8-seeded Bowie State threatened late, but Kristin Erb and No. 1-seeded Lock Haven held on to win 1-0 in game two of the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regionals Wednesday at North Campus Field.
Erb pitched the complete game and struck out 14 batters. Bowie State's only hit, and its first base runner, came in the top of the seventh, when senior leadoff hitter Erin Gray singled down the right-field line. She advanced to second on a groundout by junior Tiffany Toney, but Erb stuck out the final two batters for the win.
Bowie State (25-13) limited Lock Haven (43-6) to just three hits, but back-to-back walks to start the third inning set up Amanda Roosa's RBI groundout, plating Julia Popovich, who slid into home ahead of the tag of Bowie State catcher Tricia Corbin.
Lady Bulldogs pitcher Jillian Willey took the loss, pitching two-plus innings, allowing one run on one hit and three walks. Heather Enders pitched four innings in relief, holding Lock Haven to three baserunners — two hits and one walk.
Ilia Lopez and Nancy O'Connor each had hits for Lock Haven.
Lock Haven advances to face game one winner California (Pa.) in game seven at 2 p.m. Thursday. Bowie State drops into the loser's bracket where it will face West Chester in game five at 9 a.m. Thursday.
