LADY BULLDOGS ELIMINATED 4-0 BY WEST CHESTER IN NCAA REGIONAL

(KUTZTOWN, PA)  Fifth-seeded West Chester University (32-21) shut out eighth-seeded Bowie State 4-0 in game five of the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regionals Thursday at North Campus.

West Chester advances to face the winner of game six, Slippery Rock vs. Shippensburg, at 11:30 a.m. Friday. Bowie State is eliminated with the loss.

Shannon Padula led the Golden Rams, pitching seven innings, while holding Bowie State to just two hits. She struck out three.

West Chester scored two runs in the bottom of the third and added another two in the fifth inning.

Leadoff hitter Tara Colantuono went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for West Chester. Erin MacNamee doubled in Colantuono in the third inning and later scored on a single by Megan Harbaugh.

Kristin McCoy scored in the fifth on an error after reaching base with a leadoff single. Colantuono followed McCoy home, scoring on a rundown involving teammate Stefani Kerbacher.

Junior Heather Enders had a double and senior Bethany Sloat singled for the only Bowie State hits in the game.   Bowie State wraps up the season with an overall record of 25-14.
