(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) Bowie State University won their third game in a row and first conference game of the season, cruising to a 65-55 road win against Fayetteville State University. The win improves the Bowie State record to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the CIAA.
The BSU Lady Bulldogs used a 14-5 run over the final 8:09 of the first half and took a 29-16 lead into halftime and never looked back. Bowie State shot 43 percent (12-of-28) from the field in the first 20 minutes.
Fayetteville State (1-8 / 0-1 CIAA) committed 16 first period turnovers, resulting in 16 Bowie State points. Fayetteville State's Lady Broncos struggled from the floor in the first half, making just 6-of 24.
The Bowie State stronghold ballooned to 20 points three times in the final half of play before the Lady Bulldogs emptied their bench. This move allowed Fayetteville State to close out the game with an 18-2 run over the final 3:22, but the deficit was just too much to overcome.
LaQuasha Jordan led Fayetteville State with a game-high 17 points before fouling out late in the second half. SheQuita Manning came off the bench to contribute 14 points and seven rebounds. Tierra Coleman led all rebounders with a game-high eight.

Brittney Jackson (Laurel, MD, Laurel) and junior
Juliette Turner (Atlanta, GA, John F. Kennedy) paced Bowie State with 14 points each. Jackson also led Bowie State in rebounds with six.
The Bowie State Lady Bulldogs will return to action Monday (January 10) hosting the Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State University at 5:30 pm.
