BOWIE, Md. - Fairmont State University held-off a late rally by Bowie State University to pick up a 98-91 overtime victory on Saturday afternoon at the A.C. Jordan Arena. The loss, drops the Bowie State record to 3-3 overall while #14 Fairmont State improves to 5-0.

Michael Briscoe (Waldorf, Md.) led the Bulldogs with a team and personal season-high 16 points and senior
Justin Beck (Ellicott City, Md.) chipped in 13 points and six rebounds. Senior
Miles Jackson (Silver Spring, Md.) just missed a double-double with 12 points and eight rebounds while senior
Jordan Goodman (Riverdale, Md.) and junior
Enuoma Ebinum (Greenbelt, Md.) tallied 10 points each in the loss. Ebinum also pulled down a career-best nine rebounds in the loss.

Jamel Morris (Gahanna, Ohio) scored a team-high 18 points in the victory, including a trio of threes in the overtime period to help close out the huge in-region victory for the Falcons. Morris went 5-of-9 from three and added four assists. Caleb Davis (Charlotte, N.C.) came off the bench to add a double-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds and three assists after going 6-of-9 from the field. Jason Jolly (Ashburn, Va.) and Matt Bingaya (Delaware, Ohio) also scored 14 points apiece to give the Falcons four double-figure scorers.

"We knew Fairmont State was a good 3-point shooting team and tonight was no exception," said Bowie State head Coach
Darrell Brooks. "I give them (FSU) credit and they did a great job but I'm proud of my guys because we battled to the very end."

With the Fighting Falcons leading by 14 at the 5:48 mark, Bowie State went on a game-changing 12-0 run in less than five minutes of action to cut the lead to just one field goal.

Entering the final minute of the game, Shammgod Wells (Harlem, N.C.) gave the Falcons some breathing room by hitting a three with 46 seconds remaining. BSU's Goodman drew the foul on the opposite end and knocked-down a pair of free throws on the next Bulldogs' possession and the Fighting Falcons lead was back to three with just over a half-minute remaining.

After a Fairmont State turnover of the next possession, Briscoe drew another foul and knocked down a pair of free throws to cut the margin to just one. On the end-bounds pass, the Bulldogs had everyone defended and FSU called timeout, but the Falcons were out of timeouts and an administrative technical was issued. Beck tied the game by knocking down the free throw.

On the final possession of regulation, Morris got a great look on a drive to the basket but the ball rolled out and the game went to overtime.

The Falcons started fast in overtime as Morris drilled a pair of threes on the first two FSU possessions. However, a dunk by Ebinum at the 1:15 mark of the overtime period cut the FSU lead back to just three.

From that point, the Falcons closed out the game with eight of the final 10 points in the closing minute. Morris started the run with yet another three and Thomas Wimbush (Lorain, Ohio) completed a three-point play on the following FSU possession.

The Falcons finished the game shooting 44.9 percent from the field (35-of-78) and also knocked-down 15-of-38 three-pointers.

Bowie State shot 45.5 percent from the field in the loss, but made just 1-of-14 threes. The Bulldogs were deadly from the foul line, making 20-of-23 attempts. BSU did not miss a free-throw attempt until the 1:31 mark of the second half. Bowie also held a 54-36 advantage in the paint, scored 28 points off FSU turnovers and out-rebounded Fairmont State 44-43.

The Bulldogs will look to snap its current three-game slide, when Bowie State travels to Cheyney University for a 7:30 p.m. non-conference contest against the Wolves in Cope Hall.
