ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Sophomore
Kiara Colston (Burtonsville, Md.) scored a game-high 23 points to pace the Bowie State University women's basketball but Elizabeth City State University captured the 57-55 win on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bulldogs (9-11, 2-8 CIAA, 0-4 North) downward spiral continues as Bowie State has dropped its last seven outings and eight of the last ten.

Kyah Proctor (Capitol Heights, Md.) notched nine points and added a team-best three assists. Sophomore
Robin Heard (Waldorf, Md.) just missed a double-double, scoring nine points, grabbed a career and game-high 15 rebounds and blocked Bowie State's only shot in forty minutes of action.
The Lady Bulldogs shot 37.5 percent (21-of-56) from the floor, hitting three of their nine 3-pointers (33.3 percent). Bowie State made 10-of-13 free throws (76.9 percent), but turned 22 Elizabeth City State turnovers into 21 points. The turnover bug also bit Bowie State quite a bit as the Lady Bulldogs committed 23 in the loss.
Elizabeth City State (6-12, 3-7 CIAA, 2-2 North) was led Imani Heggins (Chesapeake, Va.) with 21 points and tied for team-high rebound honors with seven and team-best four steals. Breona Jones (Henderson, N.C.) finished with 11 points while Alliyah Floyd (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Jayln Brown (Williamston, N.C.) scored 10 points apiece.
The Lady Vikings ended the game with a 40.4 field goal shooting percentage on 19-of-47 shots, which included 5-of-16 931.3 percent) behind the arc. Elizabeth City State made 14-of-23 free throws (60.9 percent) and lady Vikings bench held a 23-6 advantage over the Lady Bulldogs.
Bowie State led 20-13 after one quarter and went into halftime with 34-27 advantage. The Lady Bulldogs maintained the lead the entire third quarter and led by a game-high 13 points (42-29) at one point during the quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs went cold to start the fourth quarter as Elizabeth City State went on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 49-all at the 4:17 mark.
A Jones 3-pointer on ECSU's next possession gave the Lady Vikings their first lead since 5-3 in the first quarter and the home team was able to keep Bowie State at bay the rest of the way.
The Lady Bulldogs will play host to Chowan University on Wednesday (2/3) at 5:30 p.m. This is a rescheduled game which was postponed due to a snow storm on January 23rd.
