BOWIE, Md. – Senior
Andre Jackson (Baltimore, Md.) scored a game and personal season-high 21 points to help the Bulldogs dispose of Lincoln (Pa.) University by a score of 73-68. With the win, Bowie State improves to 13-9 overall, 6-5 in the league and 2-3 in the CIAA North.
Sophomore
Ahmaad Wilson (Baltimore, Md.) was Bowie State's only other double figure scorer with 20 points, tying his career-high. Wilson also added a team-high four assists, grabbed five rebounds and recorded two steals in the win. Junior Enouma Ebinum (Greenbelt, Md.) contributed a career and game-high 11 rebounds to go along with eight points and a career-high four blocked shots.
Lincoln (8-15, 6-6 CIAA, 3-3 North) was led by Quaman Burton (Richmond, Va.) with 19 points while Joshua Davis (Saginaw, Mich.) along with Vernon Young (Chicago, Ill.) tallied 16 and 14 points respectively in the loss. Burton and Davis also led the Lions on the glass, hauling down eight and seven rebounds respectively.
Bowie State went into halftime with a 32-29 lead but shot a chilly 16.7 percent from the field (5-of-30) in the first 20 minutes of action, which included 1-of-15 behind the 3-point line. The Bulldogs shot well at the free throw line in the first half, knocking down 21-of-22.
The Lincoln (Pa.) Lions led most of the first half and held an 11-point advantage (19-8) at the 10:54 mark. With the game tied at 6-all, the Lions went on a 13-2 run to take their largest lead of the game.
The Bulldogs defense held the Lions to just one field goal through the first media timeout (14:20) of the second half while scoring five points of its own. Bowie State pushed lead up to seven twice of the next 3:19 until to see Lincoln (Pa.) cut the deficit to 48-47 following a pair of Burton free throws with 9:02 left to play.
A Burton 3-pointer shifted the advantage back over to Lincoln (Pa.) at 50-48 and Malachi Seney (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit another triple to give the Lions at five point lead (53-48) at the 6:33 mark.
The lead switched hands two more times before Bowie State's Wilson drained a 3-pointer with 3:02 remaining to give the lead back to the home team for good.
Free throws really made a difference in the game as Bowie State ended the afternoon with a free throw percentage of 90.2 percent (37-of-41) compared to 65.4 percent (17-of-26) for Lincoln (Pa.).
"I thought we did a good job down the stretch attacking their defense which got us into the (double) bonus that allowed us free throw opportunities," said Bowie State head coach

The Bulldogs return to the hardwood on Tuesday (February 9th) making a short trip over to College Park (Md.) to face the #4 Maryland Terrapins at 6 p.m.
