Indiana (Pa.) Men’s Basketball Edges Bowie State’s Bulldogs 69-62

BOWIE, Md. – Visiting Indiana (Pa.) University men's basketball held off the Bowie State Bulldogs for a 69-62 road win at A.C. Jordan Arena on Wednesday night. This marked the fourth loss in a row for Bowie State in five outings.

The Bulldogs were paced by senior Ahmaad Wilson (Baltimore, Md.) with a game-high 22 points (15 in the first half) and a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds (both person season highs) by sophomore Saiquan Jamison (Upper Marlboro, Md.). Redshirt sophomore David Belle (Hyattsville, Md.) rounded out Bowie State's double figure scorers with 10 points to go along with five rebounds.

Bowie State dominated on the glass, holding a 42-29 advantage in rebounds and converted 13 Indiana (Pa.) turnovers into 19 points.

Jacobo Diaz led four Indiana (Pa.) players in double-figures, scoring a team-high 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds, going 7-of-10 from the field and 3-of-5 from the foul line in 37 minutes. Joining Diaz were Dante Lombardi and Malik Miller with 12 points each, and Anthony Glover, Jr. tallied 11 points.

It was the third win in a row for the Indiana (Pa.) Crimson Hawks and fourth in the last five games, as they improved to 4-3 on the season.

Bowie State (1-4) led for the first nine minutes until Glover drained a 3-pointer to give the Crimson Hawks a 19-17 lead. That three was part of a 10-0 run for IUP, which took a 24-17 lead when Lombardi sunk a 3-pointer of his own with eight minutes left in the first half.

The Bulldogs did come back to knot the score at 24-1ll, but the Crimson Hawks took a 34-32 lead into halftime. IUP outshot Bowie 53.6 percent to 28.1 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes, but the Bulldogs kept it close by converting 10-of-12 from the foul line.

After an early second half bucket by Belle gave Bowie State a 39-38 lead, Indiana (Pa.) grabbed that lead right back with another 3-pointer by Lombardi and didn't relinquish that advantage for the rest of the night.

The Bulldogs did make it a two-point ballgame with under two minutes to play, but the Crimson Hawks converted from the line when they needed to, making 7-of-8 from the charity stripe down the stretch to ice the victory.

Bowie State will look to snap its four-game slide when they return to action on Saturday (November 25th) at Augusta (Ga.) University. Tip time is 4 p.m. in the George A. Christenberry Fieldhouse.
