BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State University women's basketball rolled to a relatively easy 80-62 home conference win against Saint Augustine's University on Thursday evening and improved its record to 9-3 overall and 2-1 in CIAA play.

Kiara Colston (Burtonsville, Md.) and
Kyah Proctor (Capital Heights, Md.) came off the Bowie State Bulldogs' bench to lead the team with 19 and 18 points respectively. Sophomore
Kyaja Williams (Baltimore, Md.) ripped down a game-high 13 rebounds and added five points and one assist in the victory.
With Saint Augustine's trailing 27-14 with 4:48 left in the second quarter, the Lady Falcons ended the first half on a 10-2 run, including four points by Williams, to close within 29-24 at halftime.
The Bulldogs made 10-of-31 field goals (32.3 percent) which included 3-of-11 behind the 3-point line and made 6-of-8 free throws in the first 20 minutes.
On the top half of the box score, Saint Augustine's hit 8-of-30 first half field goals (26.7 percent), knocked down 75 percent of their free throws (6-of-8) and were led by Kaaliya Williams' (Richmond, Va.) 13 points over the first 20 minutes.
Williams relied on the charity stripe (13-of-14) to score a game-high 26 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Falcons, who made 21 of 22 free throw attempts for 95.5 percent including a perfect 14 of 14 in the second half.
Kelsee Arnold (Fayetteville, N.C.) added eight points while Kamya Renwicks (Baltimore, Md.) and Angela Caraballo (Richmond, Va.) scored seven points apiece. Kiana Clark (Queens, N.Y.) chipped in six points for the Lady Falcons (1-3 CIAA, 4-9 overall).
Williams kept the Lady Falcons in the contest, but they couldn't keep pace with the Bulldogs in the second half. She scored seven straight points which cut an 11-point deficit to four with 1:55 left in the third quarter, but the Bowie State responded with 11 consecutive points between the third and fourth quarters to open a with a 56-41 lead. From that point, the deficit never dropped under double figures.
Kyaja Williams pulled down 13 rebounds (three short of her career-high of 16) as the Bulldogs held a 49-36 advantage on the boards and shot 44.6 percent.
The Lady Falcons stayed within single digits until the Bulldogs stretched their lead late in the third period.
