SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Bowie State women's basketball (1-1) erased a 17-point, third quarter deficit but East Stroudsburg came away with the win down the stretch to defeat the Bulldogs 74-67 on Sunday morning.

Kyaja Williams recorded a game and career-high 22 points to go along with a game-high 13 rebounds and senior
Pere Alexander added a double-double of a career-high 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds to lead Bowie State. Freshman

Talanya Hutton rounded out Bowie State's scorers with for points apiece.
The Bulldogs held advantages in points in the paint (40-20), points off turnovers (19-14), second chance points (17-2) and dominated on the glass, holding a 50-27 advantage over the Warriors. Bowie State finished the contest shooting 35.7 percent from the field (25-of-70) and 75 percent (15-of-20) at the charity stripe.
Bowie State trailed 19-13 after the first quarter and went into halftime trailing 36-26.
East Stroudsburg used a 18-11 run to open its largest lead of the game at 54-37 at the 3:49 mark of the third quarter and maintained a double-digit lead until a layup by Bowie State's Butler with 6:42 remaining in the game, cut the Bulldogs' deficit to 57-48.
The Bulldogs continued its surge, going on a 17-9 run over the next six minutes to pull within one at 66-65 with 45 seconds left in the game. However, a pair of Williams free throws were all the offense Bowie State could muster down the stretch.
Amanda Pike led East Stroudsburg (1-1) with 20 points and Mariene Bassett contributed 17 points in the win. Other double figure scorers for the Warriors include Noelle Powell with 13 and Tiffany Lapoysky added 12.
Bowie State will make its home debut on Wednesday (Nov. 14), hosting Wilmington (Del.) University in a non-conference contest at 6 p.m. in BSU's A.C. Jordan Arena.
