BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie State University women's basketball team lost its first game in over two months on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 66-61 decision to Lincoln University of Pennsylvania in the A.C. Jordan Arena. The setback puts Bowie State's record at 15-2, 7-1 in the CIAA and 0-1 in the Northern Division.

Lea Whitehead led the Bulldogs in scoring with 11 points and five rebounds, while redshirt senior
Pere Alexander added 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
DeAshia Young led all scoring with 20 huge points for Lincoln (Pa.) and added five rebounds as the Lions improve to 10-9 overall, 4-4 in CIAA play and 1-0 in the division.

Kyaja Williams opened the scoring with a jumper before LUPA's Young drilled a three pointer to put the visitors up 3-2. Both teams went back and forth the entire first period and neither team led by more than three points. Kwanza Murray's three pointer at 2:06 gave the Lions a 12-11 lead to end the first period.
Murray picked up where she left off in the second period with a layup to commence the quarter. Junior
Amel Duggins' corner three tied the game at 14-14 with 9:00 to go in the second period. The Lions quick 5-0 run gave them 19-14 lead before
Dynaisha Christian ended the run with two free throws. A Whitehead jumper at the 3:40 mark tied the game 21-21, but Lincoln had the momentum going into the halftime tied 29-29.
The game intensity picked up in the third period with Lincoln looking to upset the CIAA leader Bowie State at home. Freshman guard
Chyna Butler's jumper and layup gave the Bulldogs a 35-31 advantage with 6:54 left in the third period but that lead was quickly erased with Lincoln converting four free throws to tie it at 35-all. The period ended with Bowie State on top 44-43.
Young quickly gave the Lions the lead with a layup but Alexander answered with a floater with 9:18 left in the fourth period. A Duggins mid-range jumper, gave Bowie State the lead at 54-50 lead but Lincoln clawed back and took a three point lead thanks to Young's clutch free throws down the stretch.
Bowie State is home once again on Wednesday January 23rd hosting Virginia Union. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
