BOWIE, Md. - Juniors Cameron Hayes and Saiquan Jamison combined for 39 points and fellow junior David Belle added a dozen points to help the Bowie State Bowie State Bulldogs defeat the Livingstone College Blue Bears 82-69 on Monday evening. The win, Bowie State's second in a row sets the Bulldogs record at 7-8 overall and 3-1 in the CIAA.
 
"From a team standpoint, neither team shot very well but I thought we did a good job defensively, holding their leading scorer (Roger Ray) coming onto the game to 3-of-18 shooting from the field" said Bowie State Head Coach Darrell Brooks. "That was a tough team to play against, but our guys played tough and I'm real pleased with the win."
 
In terms of team statistics, Bowie State dominated on the glass, hauling down a season-best 59 rebounds and knocked down 37-of-49 free throws. The Bulldogs made more free throws than
Livingstone made field goals (21). The game also featured 54 total fouls and seven technical fouls.
 
Bowie State closed out the night shooting 31.7 percent from the field (20-of-63) and 75.5 percent at the free throw line. On the top half of the stat sheet, Livingstone (6-5 (0-3 CIAA) finished the cross-division contest shooting 31.8 percent from the field and 63.6 percent at the charity stripe (21-of-33). The Bulldogs and Blue Bears combined for 11-of-38 behind the arc.
 
Junior Saiquan Jamison led the attack for the Bowie State Bulldogs, recording his fourth double-double of the season (13th overall) with 12 points and 20 rebounds. Junior Cameron Hayes poured in a Bowie State career-high 27 points, which included 12-of-13 at the free throw line and fellow junior David Belle contributed 12 points, which included a perfect 10-of-10 at the free throw line. Junior Rinardo Perry rounded out the Bulldogs double figure scorers, tallying 14 points, which included 5-of-5 at the charity stripe.
 
Jalen Fykes and Roger Ray were Livingstone's top scorers with 14 and 13 points respectively while Malik Dupree came off the Blue Bears' bench to grab a team-high eight rebounds and Malik Smith pulled down a half dozen rebounds in the loss.
 
The Bulldogs defense forced 11 turnovers resulting in 13 points and the Bowie State bench outscored Livingstone's bench 36-28.
 
Bowie State will take to the road for its next three conference tilts, making their first stop at Saint Augustine's on Thursday (January 10), followed by a Saturday (January 12) battle at Shaw and will wrap up the southern division swing at Fayetteville State on Monday (January 14).
