Kyaja Williams recorded a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds to help Bowie State University women's basketball post a 49-40 home victory of Livingstone College at the A.C. Jordan Arena on Monday evening.

Pere Alexander added nine points and eight rebounds and went 4-of-4 at the free throw line as the Bulldogs improve to 12-1 overall and 4-0 in the CIAA.
Livingstone was led by Daisa Harris with a game-high 15 points to go along with five rebounds for the Lady Blue Bears who dropped to 3-10 and 0-3 in the CIAA.
Livingstone got off to a good start in the first period hitting two three pointers to take an early lead. Bowie State sluggish start looked like it may cost them the game after going 2-of -11 (18.2 percent) in the opening period.
The Bulldogs crawled back in the second period with an 18-9 run in large parts to their defense, holding the Blue Bears to 3-of-14 (21.4 percent) shooting in the second period. Junior
Talanya Hutton, who scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds got the run started with a mid-range jumper at the 8:40 mark in the second period. Hutton then knocked down two more jumpers at 4:57 and 3:34 to tie the game at 15-15. Redshirt senior
Pere Alexander's three pointer at 2:35 mark in the second period gave Bowie State 20-15 just before halftime.
BSU's Williams hit two jumpers in the beginning of the third period to give the Bulldogs 28-19 lead at 8:16 and 7:05 before Hutton's three-pointer extended the lead to 31-23 with 5:06 to go in the third.
Livingstone's Harris was responsible for a quick six-point spurt, cutting the Bowie State lead to 31-29 heading into the fourth.
Bowie State slowly pulled away midway in the fourth when Williams hit back to back shots to take a 41-33 lead and never allowed the Lady Blue Bears any closer than six points the rest of the game.
The Bulldogs held the Lady Blue Bears to just one point over the final 3:04, sending Bowie State to its 11th consecutive victory.
Bowie State is back in action on Thursday, January 10 as it continues CIAA play, hitting the road for a southern division swing beginning at Saint Augustine's University. Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm.
