LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - Junior
David Belle drilled a 3-pointer with 5.9 seconds remaining in the game to lift the Bowie State University Bulldogs past the Lincoln (Pa.) University Lions 79-78 inside the Manuel Rivero Hall on Saturday afternoon.

Bowie State (14-10, 10-3 CIAA, 3-3 North) had their second highest field goal percentage game of the season, knocking down 52.3 percent of its shots (34-of-65), which included 50 percent (9-of-18) beyond the arc. Bowie State was out-rebounded 41-33 but outscored Lincoln (Pa.) 40-30 in the paint.

Lincoln (Pa.) (12-12, 5-8 CIAA, 1-5 North) was led by Cameron Campbell's 21 points followed by Gevon Arrington with 18 points. Josh Page was responsible for 12 points while Bernard Lightsey tallied 11 points. Deaquan Williams added a double of 10 points and 14 rebounds. Jordan Camper contributed highly on the glass for the Lions, ripping down 10 rebounds.

Despite the Bulldogs shooting well in the first 20 minutes, the Lions were able to carry a 40-36 advantage into the break. The game was nip and tuck over the first 10 minutes with the last first half tie (24-24) coming at the 8:31 mark. After that, Lincoln (Pa.) used a 16-6 burst to give the Lions its largest lead of the game at 40-30 with 2:26 left in the opening half.

The Lions held on to the lead until a Perry layup shifted the advantage over to Bowie State at 45-44 four minutes into the second half. The lead would change hands five times over the next six minutes until a pair of free throws by LUPA's Cameron Campbell created the games' ninth tie at 61-all at the 9:24 mark.

Lincoln (Pa.) held a six-point advantage three times over the next five minutes with the last coming (76-70) with 3:34 to go in the contest.

Fortunately, the Bulldogs still had some fight left in them, outscoring the Lions 9-2 the rest of the contest to capture the win. Â Â Â Â

Bowie State's Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday (February 13), facing the Panthers of Virginia Union on the road in the cozy Barco-Stevens Hall.
