ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Bowie State University women's tennis opened Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) action with a pair of setbacks at the CIAA Round-Up hosted by Elizabeth City State University Saturday.
The Bulldogs lost 5-2 to Fayetteville State University with Bowie State junior
Devinity Apollon and freshman
Tamia Byrom picking up wins at No. 1 and No. 3 Singles respectively. Apollon defeated Kristin Jackson 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 while Byrom defeated Lauryn Clark 6-3, 6-3.
Bowie State dropped an 8-1 decision to Shaw University, but BSU's Apollon knocked of the Lady Bears' Teodora Jovanovic 8-5 at No. 1 Singles.
The Bulldogs return to the court on Saturday, March 16 at Virginia Union University for its division opener. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
