BOWIE, Md. – In a scheduled Friday (4/12) doubleheader, Elizabeth City State was victorious in match one, defeating Bowie State 4-1. The second match was postponed due to rain.

The morning started with doubles play and the Bowie State Bulldogs duo of
Devinity Apollon (Washington, D.C) and
Kayla Bridgett (Upper Marlboro, Md.) knocked off the ECSU tandem of Beatriz Neto and Te'nel Kearney by a score of 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Elizabeth City State's Matewah Tamba and Kaylee Williams topped BSU's Tamira Byrom (Upper Marlboro, Md.) and
Kamari Eason (Oxon Hill, Md.) at No. 2 doubles by a score of 6-3. The Vikings No. 3 doubles of Sanda Oo and D'Kota Hinton-Lewis edged Bowie State's
Jatiya Stewart (Lanham, Md.) and
Bianca Tucker (Edgewood, Md.) 7-5 to give Elizabeth City State a 2-1 lead.
Bowie State (2-9 / 1-9 CIAA) tasted victory at No. 3 singles as Byrom defeated ECSU's Oo 6-2, 6-2. However, the visiting Vikings clinched the match after winning at No. 4-6 singles.
Bowie State's next competition date is Tuesday (April 16) in a rescheduled non-conference home match against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
