Kyaja Williams (Baltimore, Md.) recorded a double-double after scoring 14 points and grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds.
The Lions held the Bulldogs to shooting 37.7 percent (23-of-61) and dominated in the paint with 34-22 advantage and scored 25 points off 17 Bowie State turnovers. Lincoln (Pa.) had balance scoring overall with Bryanna Brown and Kwanza Murray both scoring 11 a-piece while shooting 41.8 percent (23-of-55) from the floor as a team.
Bowie State (16-3, 6-2 CIAA, 0-1 North) opened the game strong by going on an 5-0 run after Hutton deep ball at 9:02. Lincoln quickly erased the deficit after Murray layup gave LU an 11-10 lead with four minutes remaining. Both teams would play some defense down the stretch to finish the first period tied 14-14.
Like the first quarter, both teams went back and forth in the second stanza. Senior Christian Dynaisha got the Bulldogs going with a jumper before Murray answered with a layup of her own. The period would conclude with at 28-28 after DeAshia Young knocked down a three.
The Bulldogs would control the tempo in the period and led as many as four points after Hutton's three ball at 6:50. The Lions weathered the storm and ended up taking the lead after Brown's two free throws at 1:27. LU ended the quarter strong and grabbed 48-43 lead heading into the fourth period.
Lincoln (Pa.) (18-3, 8-1 CIAA, 4-0 North) opened the period on an 5-0 run to take its largest lead at 53-43 with 8:31 to go. The Lions went up as much as 61-46 after Skydajah Patterson's layup. The Bulldogs embarked a comeback by going 7-1 the rest of the way but fell short with Lincoln cruising to their 18th win of the season.
Bowie State will host Virginia Union in CIAA showdown on Thursday (1/30) and will be an ESPN3 broadcast at 5:30 p.m
