Men’s Basketball to Host Livingstone Thursday

BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State men's basketball will continue Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play when the Bulldogs host Livingstone College on Thursday, Dec. 16th with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. from A.C. Jordan Arena.

No fans, spectators or media will be allowed to attend the contest. However, Bowie State athletics will offer live coverage on the Bulldog Sports Network via www.bsubulldogs.com.

Last Time Out

Bowie State (2-8, 1-0 CIAA) is coming off their first conference win against Johnson C. Smith, 75-60 on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs registered a productive offensive performance, shooting 50-percent from the field, connecting 26-of-52 points. Three players scored in double figures led by graduate senior Tyler Jones (Pleasantville, NJ) with 18 points and five rebounds while graduate senior Kobby Ayetey (Accra, Ghana) contributed 14 points and two rebounds and sophomore Ayan Teel (Bowie, MD) added 10 points and five rebounds.

Collectively, BSU averages 70 points per game while their opponents have scored 77 points per outing. Junior Quinton Drayton (Bowie, MD) is the team's leading scorer, averaging 12.7 points while Jones and sophomore David McCullough (Bowie, MD) split between 11.1 and 10.9 points, respectively. McCullough and Jones are one and two for rebounds at 4.6 and 4.0 per game.

Scouting Livingstone

Livingstone is coming off a 64-79 CIAA setback at Virginia Union on Tuesday. Leading the Blue Bears offensively was Navar Elmore with 14 points and seven rebounds aided by Malik Smith with 14 points and five rebounds.

As a team, the Blue Bears are shooting at a 49-percent rate and scoring 80.2 points per game as Elmore is the team's best scorer and defender with 17.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per outing. Livingstone is 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the CIAA action.

The Series

The Bulldogs and Blue Bears are meeting for the 23rd time since 2009. During the last outing, Livingstone defeated Bowie State, 74-70 during the 2019-2020 season.

What's Next

Looking ahead, Bowie State will host their final conference game of the 2021 portion of the schedule on Monday, Dec. 20 versus Winston-Salem State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on the campus of Washington Adventist.
