Men's Hoops Travels to UDC for Weekend Tilt

BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State men's basketball will hit the road Saturday with a visit to Washington to face the University of District of Columbia (UDC) afternoon. Tip time is set for 3 p.m. 

Saturday's meeting will be the 11th time since 2010 that Bowie State and UDC have clashed. The Bulldogs have won eight of the last 10 matchups, including a 78-70 win in A.C. Jordan Arena last time out.

The Bulldogs are still in search of their first win of the season, Bowie State (0-6) fell 80-69 to Augusta at home on Sunday (Nov. 28). BSU scored just as much as the Jaguars did in the second half with 38 points apiece but in the first half, Bowie State trailed 42-31 at the break and had to play catch up for the remainder of the second half. Three players scored in double figures, paced by junior Quinton Drayton (Bowie, MD) with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting.

Through six games, BSU has averaged 71 points per game on 42-percent shooting while their opponents have posted 87 points on 52 percent shooting from the field. Sophomore David McCullough (Bowie, MD) leads the team in scoring with 14 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per outing.

UDC stands 1-6, coming off a 66-56 setback to Molly on Wednesday. Two players scored in double figures led by Kenyon Stone with 16 while Jahmir Marable-Williams filled up the stat sheet with 13 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists. The Firebirds average 63 points and 35 rebounds per game. As a team, UDC shoots a little over 40-percent from the field and nearly 30-percent from the three-point line. Stone leads the team in scoring with an average of 13.3 points per outing through seven games.
