BOWIE, Md. – The two Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) rivals will square off on Thursday as the Bowie State women's basketball team hosts Virginia State for a 5:30 p.m. tip. The division game will stream live on the Bulldog Sports Network.

About the Bulldogs
Bowie State bounced back from a Saturday loss at Shaw with a 49-48 win over Saint Augustine's on Sunday. The Bulldogs rattled off a 23-18 deficit at halftime, outscoring the Lady Falcons 18-6 in the third quarter. Despite blowing an 11-point lead, BSU was able to hold off SAU in the final seconds for the win. Sophomore Robyn Howard (Temple Hills, MD) and Saniha Jackson (Ellicott City, MD) paced the Bulldogs with 13 points apiece while freshman Katerra Myers (Burtonsville, MD) set a new career-high with 12 boards and 10 points.
BSU is 4-3 inside A.C. Jordan Arena this season but have lost its two of its last three home games.
Scouting Virginia State
Virginia State enter Thursday with a 1-4 mark on the road this season. The Trojans are coming off a 52-47 loss to Shaw at home last week. Shayla Sweeney led all scorers with 14 points and six rebounds while Natalia Leaks chipped in 12 points and also six rebounds.
Within the CIAA, VSU ranks second in the league for defense holding their opponents to 57.9 points while offensively the Trojans rank eighth in scoring (61.6). They lead the CAA in team free throw percentage (71.7), the turnover margin (6.58) and assist/turnover ratio (.89).
Kaaliya Williams leads the team in scoring and rebounds through 17 games played with 12.5 points and 7.6 rebounds.
The Series
The Bulldogs have wont the last three outings against the Trojans, including a 51-48 win in Petersburg, Va., last timeout. Thursday's game will be the 28th meeting between the two teams since 2009.
