BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State Bulldogs women's basketball team continues its road skid, facing Johnson C. Smith on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. inside Brayboy Gymnasium.

Last Time Out
Bowie State (5-4, 1-0 CIAA) out-rebounded the Livingstone Lady Blue Bears 39-36 on the way to a 66-60 Thursday night in New Trent Gymnasium. Sophomore Anii Harris (Ellicott City, MD) scored 14 points to lead the Bulldogs in scoring while junior Seanice Lyons (Upper Marlboro, MD) and junior Robyn Howard (Temple Hills, MD) added 14 and 13 points, respectively. Bowie State forced 27 Livingstone turnovers while committing 24 themselves in the contest. The Bulldogs turned those takeaways into 19 points on the other end of the floor.
 
Scouting the Bulldogs
Harris ranks in the top-10 for scoring, averaging 15.0 ppg and sixth amongst the league players in free throw percentage (.700). Additionally, junior Jayla Irvin (Alexandria, VA) ranks fifth amongst conference opponents in 3-point field goals per game, posting an average of 2.1 per game. On the defensive side, sophomore Saniha Jackson (Ellicott City, MD) has a fourth best average in blocks per game (.9).
 
Last Time against Johnson C. Smith
The last time Bowie State and Livingstone met one another was on Dec. 14, 2021 in Bowie, Md. The Bulldogs edged the Golden Bulls, 49-48 in A.C. Jordan Arena. The Bulldogs shot 41-percent from the field, including 7-of-14 free throws while the Golden Bulls were 37-percent from the floor, hitting 3-of-8 freebies. Harris paced the Bulldogs with 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting while sophomore Katerra Myers (Burtonsville, MD) chipped in 11 points (5-6 FG) and a team-high four rebounds.
 
Entering Saturday's contest, Bowie State has won two-straight over JCSU. But since 2009, the Golden Bulls are 11-9 against BSU.
 
A Look at the Lady Golden Bulls
Johnson C. Smith is 4-4 overall and 2-0 at home. Saturday's game will be the conference opener for JCSU who last competed on Dec. 10, falling 107-52 to Appalachian State on the road. Shaniya Jones is the team's leading scorer, averaging 21.3 points per game while India Howard has a team-high average of 12.1 rebounds per outing.
 
Upcoming Schedule
Following Saturday's game and before the holiday break, Bowie State will end its road trip at Winston-Salem State on Monday, Dec. 19 for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
