BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State women's basketball (6-5) will compete for the first time in 12 days on Saturday when it hosts former conference foe Chowan (7-4). Tip-off from A.C. Jordan Arena is set for 2 p.m. ET.

This will be the 22
nd meeting between the two programs since 2009. Bowie State is 12-9 against Chowan and 6-4 against the Hawks at home. The Bulldogs have won the last six meetings over the Chowan entering Saturday's competition including a 65-45 victory during the last outing on Feb. 16, 2019.
Last Time Out
Bowie State traveled to Winston-Salem State on Dec. 19 to conclude the North Carolina swing of league action. The Bulldogs came up short 54-48 to the Rams in Gaines Center led by
Seanice Lyons (Upper Marlboro, MD) 13 points and two steals.
Katerra Myers (Burtonsville, MD) and
Anii Harris (Ellicott City, MD) both chipped in 10 points apiece in the effort. After an 11-all tie in the first quarter, the Bulldogs would trail the Rams 28-20 at halftime. WSSU outscored BSU 12-9 in the third to take a 40-29 lead heading into the fourth quarter and although Bowie State held a 19-14 scoring spread in the fourth frame, WSSU held a lead of at least five points for the remainder of the contest.
The Bulldogs concluded the conference road swing 2-1. Prior to Saturday's contest, the Bulldogs will host Alderson Broaddus for its final non-conference tilt of the 2022-23 season on Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. inside A.C. Jordan Arena. Bowie State stands 3-1 at home this season.
Last Time against Chowan
Bowie State last clashed with Chowan on Feb. 16, 2019 in Bowie, Md. The Bulldogs topped the Hawks, 65-45. The Bulldogs held several advantages over the Hawks during the last meeting including points off turnovers (21-10), second chances (12-6), bench points (17-8) and points in the paint (32-20). The Bulldogs never trailed in the contest.
A Look at Chowan:
Chowan (7-4), a member of the Conference Carolinas has lost its last two games entering Saturday's competition. The Hawks took on the defending champs from No. 4 Glenville State and dropped a 102-76 decision on the road Dec. 19. Destiny Robinson scored 16 points and collected nine rebounds while Imani Hickman posted a double-double (11 points and 12 rebounds) and Aniah Patterson added 10 points.
Amongst CC, the Hawks are 4-2 overall but have a 2-4 record on the road this season. Robinson is the team's leading scorer, averaging 11.6 points and a team-high 9.5 rebounds per game. The Hawks average 64.2 points per game while holding its opponents to an average of 59.9 points, respectively.
