BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State women's basketball continues conference play with a road test this week. The Bulldogs are in Raleigh, N.C. to play a 6 p.m. game versus Shaw University on Wednesday, Jan. 25. BSU will then return home in A.C. Jordan Arena for a 12 noon meeting with Virginia State on Saturday, Jan. 28.

The Series
Bowie State is 13-8 all-time but 4-5 on the road against Shaw since 2009. The Bulldogs are 7-3 over the Lady Bears in the last 10 matchups while its longest win-streak spanned from 2018-2020 with six straight wins. The two teams split the regular season series last season with Shaw winning the first meeting 62-53 in Spaulding but the Bulldogs responding in a dominating 84-57 win in A.C. Jordan Arena.
Last Time Out
BSU (10-8, 6-3 CIAA, 2-1 North) rolled to its sixth home victory of the season on Saturday against Virginia Union Saturday, defeating the Lady Panthers, 54-48 led by a trio of Bulldogs who registered double digits in scoring. Sophomore

Junior
Robyn Howard also helped out with eight rebounds, three steals and seven points. Howard pulled down four offensive rebounds to lead an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for Bowie State, grabbing 20 boards and turning them into 17 second chance points.
The Bowie State defense caused its share of mistakes in Saturday's game, forcing 22 Virginia Union turnovers while committing 13. Those takeaways turned into 15 points on the other end of the floor. Myers led the way individually for the Bulldogs with three steals.
Last Time against Shaw
It was raining 3-pointers for the Bulldogs against Shaw on Feb. 12, 2022 as BSU sent off its seniors in an exciting home victory. The Bulldogs shot 46-percent from the field and recorded a season-high 20 made 3-pointers on 44 attempts ignited by 10-of-23 shooting in the opening half (43-percent). Bowie State trampled the Lady Bears from the opening quarter (25-11) and never looked back to route Shaw for the 84-57 win.
A Look at the Lady Bears
Shaw has been a very good team at home this season. The Lady Bears (11-9, 4-4 CIAA, 2-1 North) are 11-2 in Spaulding but most recently, SU suffered its fifth-straight road loss to Lincoln (PA) on Jan. 21. The Lady Bears have not won a road game this season. Against LUPA, Makenzie Pollard scored a team-high 18 points and five rebounds while Tanayja London added 11 points and team-high eight rebounds. Shaw trailed 42-33 at halftime but despite holding an 18-17 scoring margin in the third quarter the Lady Bears remained behind 59-51 to the defending champions of Lincoln (PA). In the fourth quarter, SU shot 2-of-13 for just 15-percent from the field in the fourth leading to the lopsided 73-55 loss.
The Lady Bears rank third in the CIAA for defense, allowing its opponents to score 58.0 points per game and leads the conference in team defensive rebounds (558) but in most of the statistical categories Shaw is either fifth or below in team averages. London is top-10 in the CIAA for rebounds (7
th) averaging 6.6 rebounds per game. Rita James is fifth in assists (55) and second in steals (49).
