About Bowie State
The Bulldogs hope to end the non-conference slate on a good note, entering this weekend's games. BSU stands 5-7 overall and just 1-3 against conference opponents thus far. Versus non-conference opponents this season, BSU is 4-4 featuring notable victories over Lock Haven (64-61), Millersville (68-67) and Shippensburg (70-69).
The Bulldogs have not competed since Dec. 18 in which Bowie State hosted conference foe Johnson C. Smith for the Durant Family Foundation Prince George's County Education Game where BSU defeated the Golden Bulls, 84-71 inside A.C. Jordan Arena. The win was the first conference victory for Bowie State this season. The Bulldogs (5-7, 1-3 CIAA) had five players score in double figures, led by
Kyree Freeman-Davis, who had 18 points.
Joel Webb added 16 points, eight rebounds and three steals and
Caleb Johnson chipped in as well with 14 points and eight assists. Freeman-Davis was the most prolific shooter for the Bulldogs, draining four treys in the contest.
About Frostburg State
The Mountain East Conference (MEC) foes haven't seen action since Dec. 9 in which Frostburg State suffered a 97-88 loss to Glenvile State at home. The Bobcats were led by 22 points from Logan Lewis on 10-of-15 shooting. Koby Baptiste had a strong double-double, pulling down 12 rebounds to go along with 13 points and a pair of steals. With the loss, Frostburg is stands 1-10 on the season, including 0-3 at home and 0-5 against non-conference opponents this season.
About Fairmont State
The Falcons (6-3) welcome the Bulldogs to Feaster Center with a 4-1 mark at home this season. Fairmont State has won its last two outings including a convincing 117-81 win over Bethany on Dec. 13 which was its last competition before the holiday break. The squad shot well from the three-point-line going 19-43, as a group. Tommy Williams notched a career high 32 points, going 10-15 from behind the arc while Zion Dobbs recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Falcons. The Mountain East Conference foe is 4-0 against non-conference opponents this season, before Fairmont State welcomes Bowie State, the Falcons will host Virginia Union on Saturday, Dec. 30.
Looking Ahead
Following this weekend's action, Bowie State will resume CIAA play beginning Jan. 4 at Fayetteville State, St. Augustine's (Jan. 6) and Shaw (Jan. 13) with all games on the road.
