FAIRMONT, WV -- The Bowie State men's basketball team got a 39-point showing from the bench, but fell 87-70 to the Fairmont State Falcons on the road Sunday to conclude its non-conference portion of the season.
The Bulldogs (6-9) had two players score in double figures, led by Warren Mouganda, who had 16 points and two steals. Joel Webb added 12 points and Caleb Johnson added eight points.
Bowie State grabbed 34 rebounds in Sunday's game compared to Fairmont State's 33, led by Webb's five boards. The Bulldogs also put in work on the offensive glass, turning 14 rebounds into 14 second chance points.
How It Happened
BSU struggled out of the gate, falling behind 51-30 heading into halftime.
Fairmont State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 87-61 advantage before Bowie State went on a 9-0 run, finished off by Corey Barnes' layup, to shrink the deficit to 87-70 with zero seconds to go in the contest, The Bulldogs were unable to cut further into the deficit by the end of the game, losing 87-70. Bowie State capitalized on eight Fairmont State turnovers in the period, collecting 11 points off those turnovers.
