BOWIE, Md. - On Thursday, Mar. 30, Bowie State Aquatics Coordinator Mark Wascavage and his staff was recognized by the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Zeta Tau Sigma Chapter as the recipient of our Village Keeper's Award for 2023.
"The Aquatics department is pleased to have the opportunity to spread the word about the importance of water safety," said Wascavage. "The Swim 1922 program that the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Zeta Tau Signma chapter hosts does a great job of impressing upon people the importance of water safety and we were glad to be apart of that."
The award is presented to those who have made significant contributions at the grassroots level in improving the lives of those in our community. Wascavage and his staff have demonstrated active contributions to the education, career and other opportunities for the youth and others in Prince George's County and the metropolitan area by contributions to Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Zeta Tau Sigma Chapter Swim 1922 program on water safety and swimming techniques.
Additionally, the award was officially presented to Wascavage, Ernest Franklin,Water Safety and Ahmad Mansaray, Pool Operator on Apr. 8 at the Prince George's Community College, Center for Health Sciences.
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Zeta Tau Sigma Chapter, has been active in Prince George's County and the metropolitan DC area since its founding in 1983.
