Bowie State Hoops Welcomes Felician University for Non-Conference Matchup

BOWIE, MD—The Bowie State men's basketball team looks to extend their win streak to three games against non-conference opponent Felician University on Saturday, Nov. 16, inside of A.C. Jordan Arena. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. 

The game will be streamed live on the Bulldog Sports Network.

The Series
• The Golden Falcons are on a two-game winning streak against the Bulldogs entering Saturday's tilt.
• In their last meeting, Felician defeated Bowie State 89-75 in Rutherford, Nj.
• This will be the Bulldogs' first home game against the Golden Eagles. 

CIAA Weekly Honors
Bowie State's Amare Wimbush has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week announced on Tuesday by the league's office.

The award is the first for Wimbush and Bowie State on the young season.

Wimbush combined for 10 rebounds in this past weekend's BSU Tip-Off Classic. The Landover, Md., native grabbed six in the Bulldogs' win over Lock Haven. Additionally, he combined for 32 points, including 20 against Clarion and 12 against LHU. 

Scouting Bowie State
Bowie State (2-1) is currently fifth in the CIAA conference in points per game, averaging 83.3 throughout the first three games. Wimbush leads BSU in scoring and rebounds, averaging 18.2 ppg and 5.3 rebounds per game. Elijah Davis leads the Bulldogs in assists per game, averaging on the season. Wimbush and Davis are also two of the conference's top defenders, averaging four and 3.7 steals, respectively. 

Last Time Out for the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs secured their second win of the season in a tough contest against Cheyney University of Pennsylvania 88-83. Reigning CIAA Defensive Player of the Week, Wimbush lead the way for the Bulldogs, tallying 23 points, six rebounds, four assists, five steals, and one block. Victory Naboya dominated the offensive glass with five rebounds alongside his 16 points. Transfer Justin Morrisey is finding his groove as he scored 15 points with seven rebounds and two steals. 

Scouting Felician
In a preseason poll for the 2024-2025 season, Felician University was predicted to place fourth in the Northern Division of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). The Golden Falcons finished tied for fourth in their division last season, finishing with a 9-7 record in conference play. Jabri Fitzpatrick is a key returning player from the previous year's team when he averaged 10.3 ppg as a freshman. 

Last Time Out for the Golden Falcons
The Golden Falcons (1-0) enter Saturday's contest after defeating CIAA opponent Lincoln University (PA) 80-71 in their season opener. Junior Marcus Pierce led the way for Felician, tallying 23 points, while sophomore Jabri Fitzgerald filled up the stat sheet adding 21 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and three steals. Bowie State will be the second and last team the Golden Falcons will face from the CIAA. 

Up Next
Bowie State will remain home to host Frostburg State University in non-conference action on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 4 p.m. from A.C. Jordan Arena. The Bulldogs are 2-0 all-time against the Bobcats.
