BOWIE, MD – The Bowie State women's basketball team will travel Wilmington, DE., to face the Goldey-Beacom Lightning in a non-conference tilt Saturday, Nov. 23 on the road inside the Joseph West Jones Center. The non-conference tilt is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Last Whistle
The Bulldogs (1-2) lost it's last outing against Bloomfield College 69-58 this past Thursday on the road. Mia Smith led the Bulldogs with a season-high 22 points, seven rebounds, three assist, and three steals, while Destiny Ryles chipped in with 14 points, five assist, and five rebounds, four blocks and two steals. Additionally, Beulah Odiong contributed seven points and eight rebounds, while Kristin Sterling added six points and eight rebounds off the bench.
The Bulldogs out-rebounded Bloomfield 48-36 with Odiong and Sterling having eight rebounds a piece. BSU defenders forced 16 turnovers, capitalizing on the Bears mistakes to score 14 points. Additionally, BSU defensively tailed five blocks over Bloomfield's none and outscored BC in bench points 17-8 in the loss.
About Golden-Beacom
Golden-Beacom, a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division enters Saturday 0-4, following a narrow 70-68 loss at home Millersville to this past Monday. Roy Ciszkowski led GBC with 19 points and four rebounds, while Julie Kulesza added 18 points, three rebounds, and two assists. To add on, Katie Yoder recorded a double-double 17 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
This is Head Coach Bethann Burke's 12th season with Golden-Beacom, as the Lightning went 8-22 overall and 6-10 in the conference in the 2023-24 season. The 2024-2025 roster is composed of 12 returning players and five newcomers. The Lightning were selected to finish four in the CACC Pre-Season Coaches Poll.
GBC is averaging 57.8 points, 29.5 rebounds, 12.5 assists, and 7.3 steals through four games this season. Kulesza leads the team, averaging 13.8 points while Yoder averages 3.5 assist per game. Defensively, the Lightning are led by Azuri Abraham who averages 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, respectively.
Looking Ahead
Bowie State will host Felician University for it's Education Day in a non-conference showdown on Monday, Nov. 25. The game is set for 11 a.m. inside the A.C. Jordan Arena.
