Bowie State Women's Basketball Host Education Game Against Felician

BOWIE, MD –The Bowie State women's basketball team will host the Felician University Golden Falcons on Monday, Nov. 25, in a non-conference showdown for its Education Day inside the A.C. Jordan Arena at 11 a.m. The game will air live on the Bulldog Sports Network.  
 
Admission to the game is FREE.

The Series  

  • This is the sixth meeting between the two programs since 2018. 

  • Bowie State owns a 3-0 record at home and a 2-0 record on the road against Felician. 

  • The Bulldogs hold a 5-0 record over FU, as BSU won its last outing (66-34) on Nov. 21, 2018. 

Last Whistle 
The Bulldogs (2-2) won its last outing against Goldey-Beacom 79-71 on the road this past Saturday. Destiny Ryles led the way for the Bulldogs, recording a season-high 40 points and two steals, while  Mia Smith  contributed  with  nine  points and  a season-high nine rebounds. Additionally, Beulah Odiong chipped in with six  points, six rebounds, and two steals, while Gabriella Clary  added a season-high 11 points and three rebounds off the bench. 
 
The Bulldogs out-rebounded Goldey-Beacom 37-29 as Odiong and Smith  combined for 15 rebounds. BSU forced 17 turnovers, capitalizing on the Lightning's mistakes to score 19 points. Also, BSU dominated in the interior, scoring 40 points in the paint compared to Goldey-Beacom's 30 , and outscored GBCW in bench points 24-11 in the win.  
 
Throughout four games, BSU leaders are Ryles leading the team in the following: averaging 23.8 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. Defensively, Odiong commands averaging 7.0 rebounds, while Smith averages 1.5 blocks per game.  
 
About Felician    
Felician University, a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Northern Division, enters Saturday 4-2, following a win against the University of Puerto Rico Bayamon, 73-60 at home this past Saturday. Katherine Ritchie led FU with a season-high 21 points, three assists, and six rebounds. To add on, the Golden Falcons had two players with double-doubles: Ane Valle with 20 points and 14 rebounds and Stephanie Fomby with 10 points and a season-high 14 rebounds in the win.  
 
This is Head Coach Steve Fagan's 16th season with Felician, as the Golden Falcons went 11-15 overall and 11-5 in the conference in the 2023-24 season. The 2024-2025 roster has two true freshmen as newcomers. The Golden Falcons were selected to finish second in the CACC Pre-Season Coaches Poll. 

FU is averaging 61.7 points, 42 rebounds, 13.7 assists, and 7.2 steals through six games this season. Valle leads the team, averaging 14.5 points,2.8 assists, and 9.2 rebounds per game. Defensively, Deviney Jackson leads the team in steals , averaging 1.3 per game, and Ritchie commands, averaging 0.7 blocks per game, respectively. 
 
Looking Ahead 
Bowie State will stay home hosting Shepherd University for a non-conference tilt on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The game is set for 5:00 p.m. inside the A.C. Jordan Arena.
