CIAA Weekly Honors
Bowie State's Elijah Davis has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week announced on Monday by the league's office.

The award is Davis' first honor of the season.

Davis was a menace on defense for the Bulldogs in the past three games. He tallied 34 total points, 10 rebounds, 13 steals, and two blocks. Davis' best game defensively was against UDC, where he totaled a season-high five steals. The CIAA leader in steals (2.8 steals per game) looks to be a disruptive force all season long.

Scouting Bowie State
Bowie State (6-5, 0-1 CIAA) is a defensive-minded team locking down the paint and applying pressure to the ballhandlers as they are ranked third in the CIAA in blocks per game (4.6) and ranked fourth in steals per game (10.6). Amare Wimbush leads the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounds, averaging 12.4 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game. Davis leads the Bulldogs in assists and steals with 3.4 assists per game and 2.8 steals per game.

Last Time Out for the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs dropped their first CIAA matchup on Saturday against Claflin University, 80-58, inside A.C. Jordan Arena.  This loss snapped a three-game win streak that BSU was on. Wimbush led the way with nine points, seven rebounds, and two blocks, while Davis also tallied nine points, with four rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Bowie State found the most success at the basket, as they scored 32 points inside of the paint. BSU also dominated the offensive glass, scoring 21 second-chance points while tallying 17 offensive rebounds.

Scouting Goldey-Beacom
Goldey-Beacom College (3-6, 1-1 CACC) is a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). The Lightning are led by head coach TJ Dekmarr, who is in his eighth season at the helm. GBC is the fourth-best team in the CACC when it comes to three-point shooting making 34.4 percent of their shots from behind the arch. Goldey-Beacom is led by CACC Weekly Honor Roll winner Zakari McQueen, who averages 13.4 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 41 percent from the field. Zayon Marsh is the team's second-leading scorer, averaging 11.8 points, six rebounds, and 14. steals a game.

Last Time Out for the Lightning
The Lightning enter Tuesday's contest after winning a nail-bitter against in-state rival Wilmington University (DE), 87-85, Saturday afternoon inside Joseph West Jones Center. McQueen led the way, scoring 24 points with four rebounds while shooting 6-12 from the three-point line. Two more Lightning players scored in double figures as Shane Taylor dropped 16 points and David Robinson scored 16. Despite the close score, GBC only surrendered the lead once in the victory.
